Welcome! I'm Daniel Marks. I attend American University. I love music, exploring new places, food, making friends, social justice, the elliptical, pop culture, learning, writing, and discovering new things about myself.
submitter: *skip to 3:12* I was at my first Beyoncé concert and some guy was holding a really rude sign saying “You can’t sing” so during crazy in love she hit her note early and told him to hit the same note and he butchered it then she walked away and said ‘exactly’. She played it off as casual for the cameras but everyone in the crowd was dying laughing cause we knew
i am screaming. why would you pay $1000 to see someone you can’t stand? beyonce haters have no fucking logic.
Nobody gives the black girl mob credit for being smart as fuck. They clown but at the end of the day they are really intelligent.
And it’s not subtle at all. Taystee is a math prodigy in addition to being well-read, Poussey is multilingual, Cindy just knows shit, Suzanne studies Shakespeare, Watson was a good student in addition to being a track star, Vee is basically an evil genius. Piper often learns the most from them; they taught her how to fight and helped translate Pennsatucky’s biblical threat. The show flat out acknowledges the (academic) intelligence of the black inmates time and time again, but the audience collectively ignores it.
